DUSHANBE (Sputnik) – Russia has made a significant contribution to maintaining stability in the Central Asian region, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday. “Russia has traditionally made a significant contribution to maintaining peace and stability in the Central Asian region,” Putin told reporters after a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe. Russia and Tajikistan are actively developing defense and military-technical cooperation, the president said, adding that the Russian military base in Tajikistan is a guarantor of security in the Central Asian region.
